This guide provides a first look at the Minotaur, the new hero unlocked in Dragon's Tower. To review his full kit, I'm using a maxed-out, "God Account," which allows us to see all his skills and forge options at their maximum level.
I'll go over his forge, skills, and globals for a quick rundown, and then take him for a run in Dragon's Tower to see how he feels in practice.
A quick note on using a maxed account: while it's useful for testing, it confirmed my suspicion that getting everything for free isn't fun. The whole point of the game is collecting and earning the items. Knowing that from experience, the real fun is in the grind, not in having everything handed to you.

| 160 | All Heroes: +100% Damage |
The Minotaur is unlocked in Dragon's Tower after collecting an obscene amount of tokens. His faction bonus is Physical Damage.
Interestingly, his "Strongest" bonus is +Armor. This clearly indicates he is designed for late-game content like Dragon's Tower, Hard Mode Arena, and other challenging modes where survivability matters.
His global unlocks are a mixed bag:
The Area of Effect global is good and carries this set. The others are bottom-tier. Plus Health isn't very valuable since you shouldn't be getting hit (outside of specific modes like Dragon's Tower), and flat Base Damage is one of the worst globals.
His forge global is 1.025x, which is a middling, middle-of-the-pack global. Overall, he's worth getting as a "shelf hero" for the globals, mainly for the rare Area of Effect and the damage multiple.
You want to run a mix of Wizard and damage gear for hard levels like Dragon's Tower. This setup gives you max damage per second (DPS) with the extra benefit of a set bonus.
The Ranger Boots are important because they give you two free reshuffles in Dragon's Tower. That's a huge help when you're looking for the best Tomes or weapons.

The goal in Dragon's Tower is to get weapons that push enemies away, slow them down, and give you shields. Scrap Hammer is one of the best choices because it's strong right away; you don't even need to evolve it.
You can substitute in better special weapons like Slingshot or Cow Whistle if you have them. Awakened Bulwark is also an amazing damage weapon for Boss Brawl.
Tomes to complement the build are:
Armor Tome is a very important item in Dragon's Tower. You need it to evolve the Minotaur's main weapon, Bulwark, and to get your armor rating as high as possible. Ice Wand is also a top pick for its damage and ability to control the crowd.
You need to use cooldown jewels until your total cooldown hits 40%. That's the maximum cooldown cap in Dragon's Tower.
Area of Effect (AoE) is great for damage. Pushback is a must-have to help your weapons keep the horde off you.
If you have some high-level jewels, you can swap them for low-level cooldown jewels. For example, a level 7 Projectile (P) might be better than a level 1 cooldown jewel. The best way to know is to test them in your own game.
Minotaur's weapon evolves with Armorome, which is fitting as he and Shield Warden both use it. The weapon itself is a physical attack: a heavy gauntlet that punches the ground with a chance to stun enemies on hit.
His forge choices are:
A quick look at his three skills shows a kit built around cooldowns, which can be a drawback compared to top-tier heroes.
Every 15 seconds, the Minotaur enters Bullrush for 10 seconds. This is a long 15-second cooldown for a 10-second uptime (about 66% uptime). For comparison, a top-tier hero like Warlord has skills on a 3-second or instant cooldown.
During Bullrush, he:
This skill gives him pushback and damage reduction, fitting the "charging bull" theme.
Every 6 seconds, he roars, dealing damage, applying Weakness (which is different), and slowing enemies. Six seconds is a long time in this game. In a 2-minute wave, that's only 20 casts, which isn't a huge amount.
Again, compared to Warlord, whose Fatal Wounds is always active and Wide Swing is nearly instant-cast, a 6-second cooldown is a significant difference. All that extra time matters.
All kills fill the ultimate meter. When active, every 1 second, the Minotaur leaves behind a shockwave that deals damage and pulls enemies. The shockwaves last for 10 seconds. This is a small, localized AOE, unlike the Warlord's instant, full-screen ultimate.
You can see the difference between a top-tier hero and this one: his kit is built on recurring timers rather than instant-cast or always-on effects.
Your pets should either add a lot of damage, like Blazetail, or give you extra help and healing, like Hydro Basilisk.
For Dragon's Tower, Hydro Basilisk is a good choice because its active skill creates a geyser that heals you when you stand in it. This helps you survive longer. For the most damage in Boss Brawl, use Blazetail.
Here's a detailed breakdown of the best main pets and best passive pets to help you think through your choices.
After a few runs in Dragon's Tower, here are the initial takeaways:
In summary, the Minotaur's kit feels somewhat wasted in Dragon's Tower, as his core mechanic (Bullrush) encourages a playstyle (touching enemies) that the mode punishes. He seems far better suited for Nightmare Mode or Hard Mode Arena, but even then, his reliance on cooldowns and the clunky Ball and Chain forge make him feel less powerful than top-tier heroes.
